There are three main types of CNC lathe spindles, namely:

Belt-type spindle: This spindle is driven by a belt, and the speed usually does not exceed 8,000 rpm. Although the noise increases when the rotational speed is high, it is powerful and suitable for heavy cutting.

Direct-connected spindle: The speed of the direct-connected spindle can usually reach 12,000 rpm, and its speed is inversely proportional to the cutting force, that is, the higher the speed, the smaller the cutting force. Compared with belt-type spindles, direct-drive spindles are more stable and are especially suitable for processing workpieces that require high surface finish. This kind of spindle is mostly used for processing small parts and products and is not suitable for heavy cutting.

Electric spindle: The electric spindle is a new type of spindle with extremely high speed, which can even reach more than 50,000 rpm. However, high speed also means that its cutting force is relatively small, so this spindle is almost only suitable for milling.

These three spindle forms have their own characteristics and are suitable for different processing needs and scenarios. When selecting a CNC lathe spindle, you need to make a selection based on the specific processing tasks and requirements, combined with the performance characteristics of the spindle.
